Thank you, Dr. Tim Wilson of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, for your endorsement and support! I won’t let you down!

I’m Tim Wilson, a lifelong Democrat, and I endorse Richard Thripp for the Democratic Party nomination for Florida’s 6th congressional district.
I’m a native Tennessean, but a semi-native Floridian. When I was a kid, my family vacationed at a mom-and-pop beach motel (The Mermaid, now gone and replaced by the hulking Grand Coquina condominium) in Daytona Beach Shores every Fourth of July (my daddy would go to the Firecracker 400). My mom was one of the original residents of Pelican Bay when it was developed in the early 1980s. My husband and I have been residents of Volusia County since moving here in 2000 to take care of her in her later days. We’ve lived in the Shores, in Debary, and, currently, in Port Orange. I’m on the faculty at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, where I serve as Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and chair of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. I’m the advisor to the campus Out in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics organization, supporting LGBTQ+ young persons as they grow into their professions.
Richard is the progressive voice we need. He comes from a background as a Republican in a right-wing Trump supporting family. That’s great! We welcome former Republicans and “soon to be former Republicans” (Mayor Pete) in this big tent Democratic Party. Whatever political environment he comes from, Richard supports progressive issues like jobs that pay enough for a family to grow and thrive, access to health care for all, saving our planet from climate disaster, and addressing long-standing racial and economic injustices.
A young man with a young family, Richard is running a grassroots campaign from his home here in Volusia County. He’s local, with degrees from Daytona State and UCF. Contrast that to current ghost rep Mike Waltz who’s never even lived in our district, much less shown one iota of interest in it.
I am confident that Richard will make a fine Representative. He will listen to and serve his constituents, and he will make taking care of ordinary folks, in our district and nationwide, his priority. I would be proud to have him represent us.
